Title: Things You Never Suspect
Comments: Before posting this photo, I asked a slew of friends what they thought this structure is. Nobody got close to guessing correctly. It is the remnants of a water tower that, 65 years ago, stood in the middle of an Italian prisoner of war camp that was located about three miles south of Hereford, Texas. It is strange to look at it and think that, within my father's lifetime, this tower, which is now in the middle of cornfields, was surrounded by thousands of World War II prisoners. Now it stands alone, a silent witness to a bygone conflict.
